Our Story

Baladi Crafts was inspired by a desire to share familiar flavors and connect with people, because food has always been something that brings people together.

I grew up around simple food, but it was always made with care. My family's restaurant was a big part of that. I learned by watching my dad put his heart into sourcing good ingredients, experimenting in the kitchen, and treating food with respect. He taught me the importance of making honest food.

Hawawshi was one of the meals I always felt connected to. It's simple, comforting, and the kind of food you keep coming back to. Even though I experiment and create new things, I try not to change that feeling. I want to stay as close as possible to the way I remember it.

When I first moved to the United States, I realized that a lot of what I loved about food back home wasn't available in quite the same way. What began as a way to reconnect with those flavors slowly became Baladi Crafts.

As I started sharing my food, something surprised me. Even people who had never heard of hawawshi before connected with it. Not because they knew the dish, but because they recognized the feeling behind it. It reminded them of a comfort meal, a family tradition, or a memory from their own childhood.

That made me realize Baladi Crafts wasn't just about food.

It was about carrying something meaningful from where I come from and sharing it with others.

Today, every hawawshi, spice blend, and drink we make is rooted in that idea: honest food, made with care, meant to bring people together.
